Autism Assessment
I am currently taking on new clients for Autism Assessments with availability through until June 2025. Please contact me to book an appointment. I will update this once my bookings are full.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment process.
I specialise in assessments for adults who believe they may have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I am currently taking on new clients for these assessments.
An assessment for Autism Disorder begins with an initial two-hour appointment where we sit down together and discuss in-depth your experiences and struggles. Additional sessions are included if required.
The appointment will be on a Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 pm. I also have some online appointments available on a Monday. Although I am based in Christchurch, I accept assessment requests from anywhere in New Zealand.
The cost for an assessment and letter is $1400, which will need to be paid at least one week before the appointment.
Before the in-person assessment, I will provide you with forms that need to be completed before we meet. These will help with the assessment, including ruling things out that may be contributing to your struggles. I will also ask you to include a brief (no more than 300 words) outline of why you consider yourself to have autism.
It is important that I get information about your early childhood, including your early milestones and schooling. Ideally, I would like to talk to someone who knows you well, to gather collaborative information. It is fine to complete this part over the phone.
Part of the assessment will include a discussion about other aspects of your life, to assess and screen for any other struggles you may be having, e.g. anxiety and depression and other forms of neurodiversity such as ADHD, OCD, and dyslexia. While I can undertake diagnosis of ADHD I am unable to provide written reports for Te Whatu Ora.
I will give you verbal feedback, including recommendations for next steps, at the end of each session. I will also ask for your feedback and any questions you have. I will write an assessment report for you, based on what your needs are. This can range from a brief letter to your GP, stating the outcome of the assessment, to a longer referral letter to other support services.
You are welcome to bring a support person to your appointments.
I also have a support dog, who is always very happy to sit with you. He will take as many pats as you can give him. Please let me know if you would like him to be present.
My office is at 20 Gamblins Road, St Martins.
Photographs and more information on my workspace and my support dog can be found under the “More Info” tab in the menu.
Please contact me if you have any further questions and/or would like to make an appointment.
